Chapter 77
-NAOMI
I sit in front of the mirror, gazing at my reflection, my face lightly coated with makeup.
I observe every feature, trying to see what Circenn saw when he complimented me.
I study my eyes, my eyebrows, my lips, searching for the beauty he claimed to see with the twins.
1 must be completely losing my grip on reality.
It’s been hours since he made that casual compliment, but I’m still obsessing over it like it’s the oxygen i need to breathe.
I can’t believe I’m still replaying his words in my head, analyzing every word, every tone, every syllable. It’s as if my self–worth has become entirely dependent on this one fleeting remark.
I’m acting like a lovesick fool, and I can’t seem to snap out of it.
Get a grip Naomi!
Have I really been craving for a Man‘ compliment or is this just Circenn’s effect?
It’s precisely 7:45 pm, and I’m all set to head out for the evening
The beauty team has done an exceptional job, transforming me into a vision of loveliness for the Cala that Circenn and I will be attending in a few minutes.
They’ve taken their time to ensure every detail is perfect, from my hair to my makeup to my
outfit.
I feel like a princess, ready to make a stunning entrance.
I’m eager to make a memorable impression alongside Circenn, and I can’t tell if it’s nervousness or excitement that is building up inside me.
As I stretch the princess–like shimmering hand gloves covering my skin, I make my way out of the guest room to meet Circenn who looks exquisite in his manly tuxedo,
His physical presence is truly commanding and in this tux, it is twice as before.
His broad shoulders appear chiseled and angular, as if they could slice through the air with case-
His hair has been styled with a hint of gel, giving it a sleek, dark, and shiny appearance that frames his face beautifully,
The styling has opened up his features, allowing the light to dance across his angular cheekbones, defined jawline, and piercing eyes.
Every aspect of his face is accentuated, showcasing his chiseled good looks and an aura of confidence that is simply mesmerizing.
Wow.
It’s really not my fault for repeating his words over and over again.
“You’re all ready” He says when he sees me
I nod.
“We can leave now, the driver’s all ready”
I gaze at him with longing eyes, hoping he’ll notice me, really see me, and be captivated by my appearance.
elf and maybe him.
I want him to be drawn in by my beauty, to be impressed by the effort I’ve put into looking stunning for myself.
Call me shameless
But instead, he barely gives me a glance, nodding curtly in acknowledgement before swiftly turning away and striding towards the door
I gasp quietly, my mouth gently banging in the air
His raped departure Traves me feeling disappointed..
I sigh before hakling my dress and trailing behind him.
Thank you to the beauty team, they did good but not good enough for Circenn.
And why the hell do I need his validation. I am seriously going insane.
The i
ride to the party feels like an eternity, crawling along at a snail’s pace. And it puts me in the most awkward position ever.
Circean is completely absorbed in his phone, making call after call, each one seeming to revolve around either debunking false rumors from the press or threatening legal action against those who dare to speak ill of him.
The constant stream of calls creates a tense atmosphere, leaving no opportunity for conversation or relaxation.
And when the phone call finally ends, the silence between us becomes palpable, and I’m left feeling like a mere spectator.
My stomach immediately starts to churn, as the car’s navigation system sings out that we’re three minutes away from our destination.
When I move uncomfortably in my seat, Circenn speaks up,
“Are you nervous?”
My head snaps at him. “What. No.
I don’t know why I’m denying it but I am dead nervous, and I don’t even know why.
Is it because Circenn had tagged it to be a party of the year and how history on the internet seems to be shit.
I hate to admit it but I think I’m frightened by people’s judgment.
“You look stressed” He leans closer to me, to take a good look at my face and I freeze.
“I’m fine, maybe a bit stressed from the hours spent getting my makeup done but I think I’m fine” I nod frantically.
He
e lets out a deep sigh, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that makes me squirm in my seat.
The silence between us is oppressive, his gaze piercing through me like a laser beam.
I wanted to feel seen earlier, now I’d give anything to get his eyes off me.
What is he searching for on my face!
My skin prickles with discomfort, and I fidget, desperate to break the tension.
I wish the driver would suddenly switch off the car’s lights, plunging us into darkness, just to escape the weight of Circenn’s gaze.
“Is there something on my f–face?” I finally asked, quietly, leaning back.
I hate that he makes me nervous now.
He nods.
“You look beautiful”
My head tumbles at the word and I gulp like I just swallowed a damn shark.
“Oh” I croak. “Thanks, you don’t look bad yourself”
How can he compliment me out of nowhere?
He leans back, “1 know you’re nervous Naomi, just imagine everyone naked if you are” He nods
The only one I want to imagine naked is him,
My Goodness 1 am one crazy woman,
“That’s funny” I scoff “It doesn’t work”
