Chapter 69
-CIRCENN
As we approach the vibrant party venue, a huge building that’s only used for exclusive gatherings like this, my driver skillfully pulls the car to a penile stop right at the entrance.
With a courteous smile, he emerges from the driver’s seat and gracefully opens the door for Naomi and me, extending a gallant hand to assist Naomi as the steps out onto the red carpet awaiting us.
The numerous gleaming cars around the building and the buzz of excitement from the guests all blend together to create a sense of luxury and anticipation, setting the tone for a memorable night ahead.
With Naomi and I out of
of the car, the sudden change in temperature is palpable, and I can’t help
Ip but notice how she shivers in response.
The cold air seems to envelop us, a stark contrast to the warmth and excitement of the party we’re about to enter.
1 watch as Naomi wraps her arms around herself, her shoulders drawing inward slightly, and her eyes scanning the surroundings as if seeking a refuge from the chill.
As my gaze lingers on Naomi. I can’t help b
but be struck by her stunning appearance.
The silver dress on her, hugs her curves in all the right places, accentuating her beauty and radiance.
The way the fabric shimmers in the light, perfectly complementing her skin tone and jewelry, is truly breathtaking.
As a man, I can’t help but appreciate the allure of her elegance, and I find myself drawn to her captivating presence.
The upper part of her dress is also fit and curved in a way to draw the curves of her breast, leaving not so much and not so little room for her cleavage, which looks like it has been taunted with glitters.
My mental screen suddenly glitch and I can’t help but imagine myself burying my face in those shimmering breasts of hers.
I must be crazy.
I admit
With the chivalry of a true gentleman, I gallantly remove my spare coat and adjust my blazer, then approach Naomi with a courteous smile, carefully draping the coat over her shoulders to shield her from the chill, my gesture a testament of our public pretend love and care for each orher.
“Thank y–you,” she stutters.
“It’s nothing” I nod, bending my elbow so she can slide hers in “Let’s go inside”
Linking arms like the married couple we are
We are immediately guarded towards the entrance of the door where we walk in with the rest of the arriving guests.
The auction hall is as grand as anticipated, with rows of seats adorned with an array of bidder numbers, each accompanied by a bid card, poised and ready for the frenzied bidding to commence.
A man walks up to me and Naomi and a smile steals his face immediately.
Please come with me”
“Mr and Mrs. McCain?” He calls gently. “I am to take you to your seats. P
I nod and let him lead the way.
As we trail behind the man dressed like a penguin, my eyes creep its way to my side and I find my orbs falling again to stare at Naomi.
She looks really good tonight
Naomi’s face is set in a determined mask, her eyes scanning the room with a keen intensity, taking in every detail. Her gaze darts from one bidder to the next, her pupils constricting slightly as she assesses the competition
I admire how poised and self–assured she appears, her confidence and composure radiating from her like a palpable force.
Her shoulders are squared, her head held high, and her lips pressed into a resolute line.
Chapter 69
She exudes a sense of quiet strength, a sense of determination that is both captivating and intimidating. I can’t help but feel a surge of pride and admiration for this strong, capable woman by my side.
And I’m not allowed to feel more than that.
We get to our seats which are in the first row and make ourselves comfortable.
Naomi lets go of me and eyes me.
“What?” I say to her when her blue eyes won’t leave me.
“Is there something on my face?” She whispers, weary of the guests around.
1 tilt my head
“Why would you think so
“You’ve been staring at me like I’ve got something on my face” she adds.
“You’re good.” I mumble.
“Good” she repeats with a sigh
She settles in her seat and picks up her bid card
“I’ve never been to an auction before. I heard it’s a bore” She plays with her fingers.
“Trust me, it’s more than a bore,” I add
“You could have said that without having to add your trust. Nobody can trust you Circenn
h me.
Her words suddenly cut through
“Do you have to be so petty Naomi?” I scat
“I’m just saying she shrugs.
Naomi’s gaze locks onto mine, her eyes burning with an intensity that makes my heart race.
She opens her mouth, as if to tell me something, but then hesitates, her lips closing with a soft click.
The silence that follows is still, heavy with unspoken words.
I can sense the weight of her thoughts, like a storm brewing beneath the surface. Her eyes remain fixed on mine, searching, probing, as if secking permission to unburden herself.
I sense something big is about to happen, like the
he calm before a storm. Whatever she wants to say, I can sense it’s something important, something that she’s been holding onto and is ready to share
The air is thick with anticipation, as if the words are heavy on her lips. She shakes her head and purses her lips.
“What?” I ask, when she looks down.
“Nothing” She shakes her head
There’s no denying her appearance. I decided to release the issue, being considerate of her feelings and not wanting to add any unnecessary
pressure or stress.
As the last of the bidders settles into their seats, a hush falls over the crowded auction hall.
The air is electric with anticipation, the scent of luxury and competition hanging heavy over the room.
The auctioneer, a calm and seasoned professional takes her place at the podium, her eyes scanning the crowd with a practiced gaze.
Naomi glances at me.
I don’t know why she did that
Without warning, the auctioneer raises her gavel, and the room falls silent.

Chapter 69
The auction is underway, and the bartle for the evening’s most coveted treasures begins.
The auctioneer’s voice rings out, clear and commanding, as they launch into a rapid–fire introduction, setting the tone for the high–stakes bilding
war to come.
The room is a flurry of activity, bidders conferring with their companions, eyes fixed on the prize, as the first lot is revealed, and the bidding begins in earnest.
As the auction comes to a close, Naomi and I share a triumphant glance, our minds aligned on
on the
true purpose of our purchase.
We didn’t buy the historic item for personal gain or vanity, but to support a greater cause. And to make our presence known and valid here.
As we leave the auction hall, Naomi’s hand slips into mine, and we exchange a knowing gaze,
I’ll give it to this public–pretend of affection we have here.
As we head to the second grand room for the after–party, Charles Dickson suddenly appears, blocking our path.
I immediately feel Naomi tense under his presence.
“Charles” She seethes under her breath.
And here I thought she’d be delighted to see this bastard.
Guess both our feelings are mutual and are the same towards him.
His piercing gaze falls on Naomi’s face, before slightly moving down to check her entire body.
I catch his eyes grazing slightly at her hips, her waist, her chest and the frame of her neck.
Bastard.
I tighten my grip around Naomi’s arm, attempting to steer her around Charles, but he quickly steps in front of us, his eyes locked on Naomi with a determined glint.
His move is swift and deliberate, blocking our path and leaving us no choice but to confront him. The air is thick with tension as we stand there frozen in a silent standoff.
Is he fucking picking a fight with mei
I know there are multiple cameras and people here waiting to find a flaw from one guest or another. But I don’t mind giving it to them.
Before I can speak, Naomi speaks up.
“What do you want, Charles?” She begins.
“I just wa
want to talk to you.” He adds.
“Talk to me?” Naomi retorts. “We have nothing to talk about, stay away from me
So Naomi was right about their interaction.
This bastard forced a kiss on her?
“I simply add that you leave before this place before this escalates and while I’m asking nicely” I urge.
He darts his ugly eyes at me.
“Nicely? Spare me the crap Circenn. I’m here to talk to Naomi
“You will leave my wife alone” I say, waiting to end things violently
if he makes me
But instead he scotty.
“Your wife! Your paper wife? I know you guys are on a contract marriage”
Hreeze, my eyes locked on Charles, my expression unreadable.
Jaefuse to glance at Naomi lest 1 betray iny surprise and reveal that Charles has struck a nerve.
Chapter 69
My gaze remains fixed on him, a silent challenge, as I wait for him to reveal his next move. The silence is palpable, heavy with unspoken words and
secrets,
How the hell did he know that?
1 let go of Naomi and step in front of Charles.
“I believe you should watch your mouth”
“I guess I’m not wr
wrong” He scoffs.
“You’re dead wrong” 1 snarl. “Get the fuck out of here”
“I’m just here to talk to Naomi. He seethes.
Naomi steps in between us and takes my ar
“Circenn. We’re attracting attention, we should leave” Naomi whispers.
I don’t care who we attract but I’m leaving this fucked up place only because Naomi is asking.
I sigh and turn to her.
“Fine, we can leave” I say and take her by the hand.
We’re about to leave when Charles‘ voice wafts through the entire room as he yells, stopping us abruptly on our tracks.
“Circenn McCain, you should be well aware that you don’t deserve a woman of Naomi’s caliber, especially with your track record of infidelity and fathering children with multiple women. Your reckless behavior and lack of commitment are a disgrace, and you’re not worthy of the love and devotion that Naomi and her children have to offer. Your selfish actions only serve to hurt those around you, and it’s time you acknowledged the harm you’ve caused.”
As if on
on cue, the music stops playing and the guests gasp at Charles eerie words.
All eyes are now on us.
