Chapter 12

-NAOMI

My hands are not transfixed as I sign the contract in front of me. Something at the back of my mind is telling me I am not making a very good decision. But fully in my head, I know what I’m doing and what I am signing up for.

And it is good.

I can’t bear to risk anything at this point in my life. So maybe Circenn’s marriage offer is the only way that I can guarantee my and the twins safety from the media and egoistic trespassers.

Yesterday, after accepting Circean’s contract proposal, I came home to find Jake and Blake cowering in fear. And to my shock, I found a brick wrapped in a threatening note had been hurled through my window, shattering the glass and leaving a trail of shards everywhere!

The audacity! The note demanded that I reveal my true identity or leave Circenn, as if I’m some kind of secret agent.

Can you believe it? 1, a woman about to start a new life with her kids, just because the kids happen to belong to Circonn, am being bullied and intimidated in my own home

It’s absolutely unacceptable!

I had quickly called the police, but they arrived too late to catch the culprit, who had seemingly vanished.

The security cameras hadn’t captured anyone on tape, and the paper had been carefully handled to avoid leaving any fingerprints. The perpetrator had deliberately covered their tracks, leaving no evidence behind.

The police were unable to take any meaningful action, leaving me feeling frustrated and vulnerable.

That’s why I am taking a quick step to get under Circenn’s wing. Not for myself, but for his kids.

And the contract clauses look really good.

I love how real it already looks and feels.

If it isn’t talking about money, it’s revolving around safety,

Though, thankfully, I don’t have an entire fortune, but I am already financially stable, and the entire clause holds nothing but shares, money, and

If Circenn thinks I’m still here for his money, He should think again

This is all just for twins.

I glance at his legal counselor, Adam, beside me, who has taken his beautiful twenty–four hours to come up with this cont

And as I reach for the third box to sign when I flip the pages of the contract document

contract.

My eyes catch a clause that makes me glance at Circenn in the room, who is busy behind his phone screen with Ralph muttering something to him.

No freaking way.

“Excuse me 1 call for his attention, and all eyes fall on me.

He excuses himself from Ralph and walks up to me.

His grim eyes glistened like he enchanted them in a weird way.

“Is something the matter, Ms. Gilmore?” He asks gently.

I clear my throat

*Clause twenty–six feel like one.”

Circenn glances at Adam before turning to me.

“I believe you’re mistaken. I revised everything, even before and after Adam polished it out. So what exactly could be the problem?”

Chapter 12

“Is that a problem?” His lips are subtle against his sly smile.

He’s seriously joking.

“This happening marriage is for the sake of our kids and the media; it’s not real. And at the end of the day, we are never going to be real. So why should we refrain from getting real with someone we actually like? Why waste time! We can even keep it private; the media doesn’t have to know.”

“Naomi,” he calls, like he’s known me for ages, “I am not interested in other relationships. I am only interested in this because you know what! And as you don’t know. I don’t like sharing my women.”

I scoff. “We’re not going to be real”

“Exactly!” Greenn slams

“Exactly what

What If I meet a nice, good–looking man that loves me and I love him too, is that a breach of contract?”

“I am a nice, good–looking man. And I love you because you’re the mother of my kids. Let’s not get ahead of each other.”

What in the world am I getting myself into

“Am I not good–looking enough for you, Ms. Gilmore?” He asks, standing in front of me, so I can study him perfectly. His confidence is making everyone feel less in the room.

I take a good look at him like I don’t already know what he actually looks like

I haven’t studied him enough.

But I let my eyes wander over b his face again.

His fiery hunter green eyes remain sharp, and I immediately recalled how they intimated me four

years ago.

His eyelids are slightly hooded, adding to the overall aura of mystery and menace, and his eyebrows are thick and angular, slanting downward in a hard scowl The overall effect is a face that seems chiseled from the very darkness itself, a face that commands attention and inspires a sense of foreboding.

He has a square, granite–like jawline that is clenched and set, as if daring anyone to challenge him.

Pair

ir of lips so thick and full but turns into a line when he smiles. That nose still remains inhuman.

Tch.

He’s good–looking, and he knows it

Is anyone out there really more good–looking than Circenn McCain?

“You’re okay.” I shrug, not trying to agree with myself or him.

“I am not just okay. And try to be patient. Our contract is just for six months,” he beams. “I’m pretty sure you’ll find the man of your dreams after. And trust me, nobody would dare reject Circenn McCain’s ex–wife”

I try not to roll my eyes.

He is so full of himself!

I take a deep breath and turn to

“Fine,” I mutter gently.

the com

contract.

I can deal with this. I’m not entirely ready for a relationship.

Not because I don’t want to. But because s some men are afraid of someone else’s responsibilities when they find out I have a child of my own. Some are fine with it, but lose it when they figure out I have two.

It’s been a roller coaster ride for me, and I am not ready to open that door.

And yeah, Carcenn is really a big deal. So what if relationship doors open

for

me after going through with this marriage and more men want me

I can be selfish with that, right!

Chapter 17

I sign the contract, and Adan immediately takes over,

Girvenn and I shake hands, and he thanks me

“Don’t thank me yet I say

like I would change my mind.

“Day one, and you’re already thinking of a way to breach it.”

“It’s not that,” I say.

“What is it, tha?” His

hen?” His eyes are charming and hold way too much excitement. It instantly takes my words out of my mind.

Shit. How can I forget what I was about to say!

“It’s nothing,” I sigh

“Okay, no problem.” Circenn lets go of my arm. “Get ready, we’re going for your wedding dress fitting”

1 freeze.

“Already?”

“Our wedding is in four days. There’s no time to waste” Circenn sighs and then turns to Ralph.

“Cancel all my meetings and reschedule every important one.”

“Roger that” Ralph adds.

Adam leaves the room, and Circens turns to me.

“Are you ready!”

1 gawk at him.

He raises his eyebrows at me.

“Ms. Gilmore?

“Yeah sure.” The words force their way out.

It’s like a dream, to be precise, an unwritten plan unfolding beyond what I have imagined after revealing the twins to Circent.

I slip into the luxurious embrace of one of Circenn’s premium cars–a Rolls Royce Boat Tail, worth a staggering millions of dollars.

Having almost ventured into the car industry. I’ve developed a keen knowledge of cars. As I settle into the passenger’s seat, I’m struck by the sheer amount of how the car feels from the inside.

You wouldn’t want to breathe in here.

Circenn settles in the driver’s seat and glances at me

“Buckle up,” he says

I nod and grab the seat belt to cross my body.

Circenn hits the road while making phone calls with multiple people. He called a woman named Stella, another man named Fiona, and a lady named Bree, announcing to all of them that he was on his way,

They all sounded delighted, and I couldn’t believe their ears

“Where are the twins? Creen asks after he ends his phone call

“They’re with Maggie, their aunt, in a hotel,” I answer, “Why?”

“No reason, just being fatherly. Anyway, hold on tight.” He glances at the rear mirror,

“Why?” I ask, bulding on right. We’re still going to the wedding dress shop, right?”

I have to be sure.

“We still are. But have you ever been tailed by a paparazzi before?”

“What?” I screamed, almost breaking my neck to look back.
