Let Go 69

Chapter 69

Although it was summer and the air conditioning was set to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, Shelmaine still felt a chill.

She draped a shawl over her shoulders and sat on the couch, saying, “We find it oddly coincidental, but the police have no leads. They can’t find out who broke into my house or who left the parcels at my studio.”

“It must be Natasha and Samuel’s mom! But how did they find out you were here? Did Sarmel tell them?”

“If they wanted to investigate, they would have found out sooner or later, What I don’t understand is that if they wanted to harm my child, why didn’t they act right away? Or did they want me to have an accident too?”

While lying in the hospital for half a month, Shelmaine kept pondering over the thought. She hesitated to jump to conclusions because she couldn’t believe people could be so

Cruel

Isabelle said, “That’s trying. The way you put it, it’s quite possible. Damn, are they crazy?”

Shelmaine lowered her eyes. Her thick eyelashes hid the fleeting sadness in her eyes. “I was too naive. This is my karma, a harsh lesson that taught me what kind of people they really are”

Including Samuel

Isabelle asked, “So what are you going to do, just swallow your anger and let it slide?”

“No, I won’t do that. If hiding doesn’t work, I’ll have to face it.” Shelmaine smiled faintly, but the slightly reddened comers of her eyes betrayed her emotions. She was not as calm as she appeared to be

“I’ll support you in whatever you decide to do. We can’t let those scumbags have it easy!”

shelmaine leaned back. “Yes, I need to think about it.”

Isabelle stopped talking and let Shelmaine think quietly.

Shelmaine had lost a lot of weight. Even though she hadn’t gained much weight during her pregnancy, she seemed thinner than before she was pregnant. It was as if her soul had been drained from her body,

Isabelle stayed at Shelmaine’s place for a few days while she recovered. Her body didn’t heal that quickly, but her complexion improved.

So Isabelle finally felt comfortable enough to return to South Haven for a bit. Shelmaine assured her she could return to work without worry.

Isabelle was going to resign and come back, but Shelmaine persuaded her to stay with the excuse she needed someone in South Haven to gather information. Only then did Isabelle agree.

Shelmaine spent a few more days recuperating at home and didn’t rush back to the studio. She waited, and one afternoon, she finally received a call from Beatrix.

Beatrix said, “Boss, Mr. Gallagher is here again…”

“Did he send the flowers

“Yes, he did. Mr. Gallagher personally delivered them today. He wants to see you.”

“I don’t want to see him.

“Then I’ll turn him away.”

“Okay.” After Shelmaine spoke, she hung up the phone. She closed her eyes, and her phone rang again before long.

It was Beatrix calling, but she was not the caller instead. It was Julien.

“Shelmaine, it’s me.”

Shelmaine didn’t respond

“Are you ill? What’s wrong?” Julien asked with concern

“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Gallagher, but isn’t it a little inappropriate to use someone else’s phone to call me?”

“You refined to meet me, so I had no choice but to politely borrow your employee’s phone”

Shelmane’s wire was still wrak and lacked energy “Mr. Gallagher, didn’t we make things clear last time? Julien’s sex was prodle “Yes we did,
