When they reached the vicinity of Shelmaine’s apartment, Shelmaine asked Samuel to stop.

However, he drove into the residential complex anyway and said, “It’s not like I’ve never been here before.”

He knew where Shelmaine lived

It wasn’t until they were downstairs that the car finally came to a stop.

Shelmaine then unfastened her seatbelt and tried to get out, but the door remained shut. She looked at Samuel, puzzled

Samuel calmly asked, “Are you used to living alone?”

“what are you trying to say?

“I’m just showing contem”

“I don’t need it.” Shelmaine’s attitude was cold, as if she wanted to distance herself from Samael as much as possible. “Don’t be so pretentious,” she added. “Quite the temper you have.” Samuel rolled down the window and lit a cigarette. The smoke quickly filled the car. “Do you hold a grudge against me? Shelmaine suddenly smiled. Her previous coldness was now replaced by a more amiable expression. “No, I bear no grudge against you.”

Samuel looked at Shrimaine in the rearview mirror and smirked. “You really enjoy being insincere, don’t you?”

“Open the door. I want to get out,” Shelmaine said once more.

However, Samuel still didn’t open the door. Instead, he nonchalantly continued smoking. “If you really don’t want to talk about the house, I won’t force you to “Should I thank you for that? Shelmaine sarcastically replied.

“Shelmaine, can’t you speak properly?” Samuel’s tone dropped several notches, and his face showed clear displeasure. He’d remembered Shelmaine as being gentle in the past and not the confrontational person she was now.

Shelmaine began, “If you think I’m rude, you don’t have to come to me. Besides, I didn’t ask you to anyway

Then, she continued, “Mr. Hasting, I know you don’t want to see me either. Aren’t you just trying to please Natasha? You want to give her our house.

“But what’s she so fond of about living in a place someone else has lived in? sleeping in a bed someone else has slept in?”

Shelmaine didn’t want to argue with Samuel nor voice these thoughts. It was humiliating for her, and she was worried that it would make Samuel think that she was still hung up on him or jealous. She didn’t want him to think that that was why she was deliberately refusing to sell the house to him.

Samuel’s expression darkened. As if having lost his patience, his tone took on a threatening edge as he said, “Shelmaine, watch your language.“”
