shock, my mouths is parted a bit open and my throat feels dry. My mouth goes open but my words and breath freezes halfway open.
I stare at the closed door in front of me trying to find some sanity of what just happened.
Was I just threatened
Did she just threaten me because she felt threatened by me and my boys‘ presencet
The door opens and Circenn walks in.
He sees me looking hanged and asks.
“Is something wrong?” He asks
I sent “Did you not bump into your sister!”
“No” He looks behind him and then back to me.
I want to speak but it feels like a car’s got my tongue.
“No one is allowed in this part of the mansion unless I call for them or you did, so why would Lilian be here?–
Circenn looks mad
“What did she say?” He Entreated. “Is that why you were looking gloomy?”
I want to say all she says but I don’t. Not because of her nylon threats but because I want to get a grasp of it all first.
I’m not scared of her.
“Answer me,” Circenn presses impatiently
I know he’s not a big fan of Lilian and her mother and if I let my words run the way Lilian said it, it might cause a heavy riff on Lilian
“She just said you married me so I can act like a trophy wife for you. So you could inherit some empire” I scatter my I watch his eyes squint

He quiets down.
“Ignore her words” He said.
I roll my eyes. “It’s not like we married for love you don’t have to assure me of anything”
“Right” He grit his teeth.

I’ve a
grown accustomed to self–reliance, having shouldered most responsibilities alone, with occasional assistance from Maggie.
But now, having more than one maids at my beck and call, entering to my every need, from heavy tasks to more substantial ones, feels like a fairytale novel experience for me
And what’s more, tonight dinner is an extravagant affair, expertly prepared and presented with elegance, leaving me in awe of the maids and chefs
remarkable efficient skills
The ease and luxury of having other manage the household chores and tend to my needs is a welcome change, and I find myself wanting to drown in this newfound pampering.
Girrein has made it known to me that this wing of the mansion is my domain and 1 can get the maids to work as much as I want to.
But Dean think that way.

Home!
Can I call it that? Maybe this can be home to my kids, but me?
In six months this play family with Circenn,
this tr
trophy wife that I am will wash down the drain.
Circenn looks beat, swept off his feet and dragged off shore.
Like he doesn’t understand why he’s having dinner with me and the boys.
“What?” I ask as one of the maids set Blake’s chair to reach the table’s height–just as she has done with Jake’s
Circenn waits for the maid to take her leave before turning to me.
He leans in closer to me so the boys don’t hear and whispers.
“We got married for public reasons. We don’t have to play pretend family”
I scoff. “I just wanted to have dinner, 1 asked the maids for it and they started cooking a feast. I didn’t call you here. You can leave if you don’t have an appetite”
Circenn looks stunned and turns to Jake silly.
“You said your mom wanted me to come have dinner?” He says to jake.
“Yes,” Jake nods.
“When!” I scoff.
“You said it was time to eat and I should go–go call Blake and I called daddy too. You
ou said to always eat together. I can’t leave daddy alone” Jake looks sad for a reason.
My heart punches itself.
“Oh Jake.” I kiss my teeth
I see exactly where he is going
Sharing meals together is a tradition we’ve always cherished.
I made it clear to everyone that unless we’re all present at the table, no one eats. Jake, in particular, has taken this rule to heart, ensuring that we always dine together as a family.
Oh I love how considerate he
He must take after me
“Well the
thank you for getting me down here Jake” Circenn reaches for his head and strokes his hair
Gosh, the resemblance
Here’s a rephrased version with a bit more detail;
Circenn’s gaze falls upon the spread of food before him, and his face undergoes a subtle transformation.
A soft, warm light seems to emanate from his features, his eyes crinkling at
at the corners as a gentle smile plays on his lips,
It’s as if he’s savoring a pleasant memory or anticipating a delightful experience.
Whatever his thoughts, it’s clear that he’s thoroughly enchanted by either the food before him or something else, and his quiet delight is a joy to behold.
We start to eat and the food feels like a joyride in my mouth.

I stop talking so I don’t cuss in front of the boys.
Sooner or later they’re going to start cussing when they hit with new pre–schoolers. But they’re not going to hear it from me first.
I am choosing to be a great mother.
“Can we all just be good around the table and follow proper table manners?” I beam.
“You were the one who started dancing with a fork” His thick voice slams against my ears and the twins giggle and start to wave their forks.
“Okay boys, enough” I say.
They’re not allowed to side with their father.
I glare at Circenn but he just gives me a look, a look that doesn’t dance around anger or his usual disgust or disdain. This time it is a look of satisfaction and warmth.
