Chapter 27

Julian knew full well that Madeline was right.

He had told himself the same many times, but whenever he closed his eyes, he would remember every detail of time with Saoirse.

Throughout his life, he had longed for someone wholly devoted to him.

He once thought that person was Georgina, but she only wanted to be friends.

It was only after Saoirse left that he realized she was the one he had been waiting for. However, he had broken her heart.

The late–coming guilt and regret made him completely abandon reason. He only wanted to salvage their relationship and keep Saoirse by his side.

However, Julian knew from the reality of things that everything he did only pushed Saoirse further away.

At this moment, he felt lost. He was suffering, torn between his deep- seated obsession and the rational decision to let go.

He couldn’t make up his mind.

Seeing that Julian seemed to be swayed, Madeline quickly continued. ” You’re still young and haven’t experienced much or met many people, which is why you’re stuck in a relationship that should have ended. Stop letting Saoirse control you. You’ll only hold her back and limit your future. You have a long life ahead. Instead of wasting energy on the past, you might as well look forward.”

During Julian’s hospitalization, Saoirse visited him only once before the new semester started. Something must have happened during this time, as Julian seemed like a different person. He no longer had his previous air of arrogance and wasn’t as stubborn as he had been in the past.

After their breakup, they could finally sit down calmly and talk, with the conversation shifting from love and romance to future plans

her he had decided to return to Hufter to continue his studies after he recovered. He wouldn’t be staying in Poralis.

Upon hearing this, Saoirse finally breathed a sigh of relief and offered her best wishes. “With your talent, you should indeed develop your career back in Hufter. I wish you all the best. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.”

Finally seeing a smile on Saoirse’s face, Julian also wore a smile.

“What about you?” he asked. “Will you continue studying design?”

Saoirse nodded.

“That’s great. You’ll have more opportunities if you stay in Osho. Good. luck. I look forward to seeing your designs in magazines.”

They chatted for a few more minutes. As Saoirse glanced out the window, she noticed the sky was about to turn dark. She stood up and bid Julian goodbye.

Watching her walk away, Julian felt a stinging pain in his chest. He couldn’t help but call out to her.

“Saoirse.”

Hearing her name, Saoirse turned around with a look of surprise. “Is there something else?”

Julian hesitated for a moment but finally asked the question that had been

on his mind.

“Are we… friends?”

With her head tilted, Saoirse thought for a moment before giving him a somewhat uncertain answer.

“I suppose so.”

Julian’s face lit up with a bright smile again as he waved her goodbye.

With a soft thud, the hospital room door closed, and the room’s light dimmed slightly.

Julian looked out the window and saw the sunset hanging low over the
