Chapter 24

Julian’s injury wasn’t life–threatening because it wasn’t in a vital area, and he received timely medical treatment.

Saoirse’s high–strung nerves finally relaxed when she heard that he was

stable.

After informing Bjoern and Madeline about the situation, she returned to the hospital room. She let out a sigh of relief as she looked at Julian, who was still unconscious.

On the table lay the blood–stained wallet and bag. The sight of the crimson stains made her recall the terrifying moments of the attack.

Her emotions only grew conflicted when she looked at Julian’s pale face.

How did Julian end up being nearby when she was attacked? She was on her way home from shopping after work. Had he been following her all along? And if so, why hadn’t she noticed him?

Saoirse was troubled by these questions until Bjoern and Madeline arrived half an hour later. After discussing the situation, Madeline decided to stay. at the hospital to watch Julian, while Bjoern accompanied Saoirse to the police station to file a report.

Once the report was completed, Bjoern and Saoirse hurried back to the hospital upon learning that Julian had woken up.

Sitting outside the ward, Madeline gave Saoirse a meaningful look, signaling her to go in and check on Julian.

While Bjoern also wanted to go in, he was stopped by Madeline. He could only watch anxiously as his daughter ventured into the room, his brows furrowed deeply with concern.

After taking a deep breath to steady herself, Saoirse opened the door. As soon as she appeared, Julian’s eyes fixed on her, not blinking once.

Feeling the intensity of his gaze, Saoirse was uncomfortable and could.

Saoirse was startled by his movement and pained expression. She immediately turned to call for a nurse, fearing that his wound might be reopening.

Right then, Julian called out to her in a hoarse voice.

“I’m okay. It just hurts a bit from aggravating the wound.”

Hearing the calmness in his voice, Saoirse hesitated before turning back around to ask once more, “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“You almost met your end, and you’re still smiling?” she remarked.

Of course, Julian didn’t reveal his true feelings. He quietly explained, “I’m just happy that you’re finally talking to me. Saoirse, you haven’t even looked at me these past few days. I’ve been quite disheartened.”

So, this was what he was smiling about.

Saoirse found herself at a loss for words.

“They were armed with knives! Also, they only took my money and bag. Why did you have to go

after them? If the knife had been aimed just a little

differently, your life could have been at risk!”

Saoirse’s tone carried a sense of lingering fear. However, it sounded like pure concern to Julian.

His smile grew more unabashed, and he became somewhat unrestrained as he spoke without reservation.

“Are you worried about me?”
